Saline Township, MI : Two transported to hospital after head-on crash near church gathering in Saline Township on Tuesday, July 1, 2014

Two motorists were transported to the University of Michigan hospital following a head-on crash between two vehicles Tuesday, July 1, on U.S. 12.

Joyce Williams, Huron Valley Ambulance public affairs manager, said both patients are in stable condition.

A social gathering with a large number of people and parked cars was ongoing at St. James United Church of Christ, located at 11005 W. Michigan Ave. in Saline Township, near where the crash occurred.

A call came in for the crash at 4:13 p.m. at Michigan and Case Road, Williams said.

Firefighters with the Saline Area Fire Department and Michigan State Police troopers also responded to the scene, she said.
