ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, IN : Vehicle strikes officer responding to crash on US bypass on Wednesday, 3rd January 2024

A South Bend officer was struck responding to the crash on the bypass according police officials. The officer was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The U-S 20 bypass reopened around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday night according to police after a crash closed the westbound lanes of the U.S 20 bypass.

Police say the crash happened just before 8:00 Wednesday night.

WSBT 22's crew on the bypass has seen multiple vehicles with damage.
