WINFIELD, KS : Authorities searching for driver after deadly Cowley Co. crash on Saturday, 18th February 2023

The Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP) confirmed 27-year-old Nicolas Morris from Arkansas City is dead after a crash Saturday night in Winfield. Investigators are now searching for the driver who fled the scene.

KHP said the unknown driver was heading eastbound on 33rd Avenue at Meadowlark where the driver crossed the centerline and left the roadway. The vehicle rolled and struck a telephone pole.

Morris was a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the crash. He was taken to a local hospital where he died a short time later.
