A 19-year-old man died at the scene after being struck by at least two vehicles early Saturday morning.
Lorain County Sheriff's dispatch received a 911 call from a cell phone shortly before 2 a.m. According to dispatchers, it sounded like there was a struggle in the background.
Then, the phone went dead.
Deputies pinpointed the location of the call and arrived near the intersection of Gifford Road and State Route 113.
EMS was already on the scene and informed officers that there was a dead man in the roadway.
The man was later identified as Kenneth Faria, of Lorain.
A driver of one of the vehicles confirmed that , while traveling westbound on State Route 113, they saw what they thought was an object in the road. Due to poor visibility, the driver was unable to maneuver around it and struck Faria.
Deputies say evidence shows that Faria was hit by at least two vehicles, but they have not provided specifics about how this happened.
It was also confirmed that the 911 call was made from Faria's phone, but deputies did not say who the caller was.
The crash remains under investigation.
