Kane, PA : Emporium woman killed killed and another injured in a motorcycle crash on U.S. Route 6 in Hamlin Township on Sunday, April 17, 2016
An Emporium woman was killed and an Emporium man injured in a motorcycle crash around 4:45 p.m. Sunday on U.S. Route 6 in Hamlin Township, according to Kane-based state police.
Police said a passenger on the motorcycle, Virginia A. Gribble, 56, was found deceased at the scene, and operator Randie Scott Gribble, 54, was flown to UPMC Hamot in Erie for medical treatment. McKean County Coroner Mike Cahill told The Era on Monday the cause of death for Virginia Gribble was blunt force trauma to the head and neck.
The crash occurred as the motorcycle was traveling east on Route 6 when it went out of control, and slid into a pull off to the south of the road, according to police.
Reports indicated members of the Mount Jewett Volunteer Fire Department responded with two ambulances, and Medic 16 dispatched two medical helicopters. One of the helicopters was later canceled and the coroner and district attorney were called to the scene, according to reports.
