Fresno, CA : Coalinga woman dies, 2-year-old survives rollover crash on rural road on Friday, September 23, 2016

A 49-year-old Coalinga woman died but a 2-year-old boy riding in her car survived after a rollover crash on Highway 198 east of the city.

The California Highway Patrol reported that the accident happened about 1:30 p.m. Friday. The woman, whose name was not released, was headed west in a 2009 Pontiac G6 through the canyon east of Crump Lane. She was going about 60-65 mph on the twisty two-lane road when she lost control, hit an embankment and rolled. The woman, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was partially ejected and died at the scene. The 2-year-old was belted into a child safety seat and suffered minor injuries.

The CHP said the accident is under investigation, but that neither alcohol nor drugs appear to be a factor.
