Dover, DE : 23-year-old woman died after motorized bicycle collided with a pickup truck north of Dover on Sunday, March 27, 2016

A Dover woman, Mildred A. Steele, 23, has died following a crash between her motorized bicycle and a pickup truck.
The crash took place at about 2:08 a.m. Sunday, March 27, at the intersection of West Denney’s Road and U.S. Route 13, Delaware State Police spokesman Master Cpl. Gary Fournier said.
The investigation so far has shown the pickup, a 2004 Silverado, was stopped at the light at the intersection; when the light for West Denney’s Road turned green, the truck went into the intersection and hit the front of Steele’s bicycle.
Steele apparently was going through the intersection against a red light, Fournier said.
After the impact, Steele was thrown into the northwest corner of the intersection. The truck stopped in the parking lot of the Blue Hen Collision Express.
Steele, who was not wearing a helmet or reflective clothing, was taken to Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Nicholas J. Stonesifer, 21, of Dover, was at the controls of the pickup; he was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured, Fournier said.
Route 13 northbound at West Denney’s Road was closed for about three hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
