Houston, TX : Jacob Mittelstedt killed in two-vehicle collision on Aldine Bender Road in Harris County on Wednesday, February 17, 2016

About 9pm on Wednesday, Jacob Mittelstedt operated a green Nissan Altima and traveled westbound in the outside westbound lane of the 5800 block of Aldine Bender Road. The outside westbound lane ends as the roadway extends to the west. Mittelstedt failed to drive in a single lane and crashed into the north curb of the roadway. His vehicle entered a clockwise roll as it yawed counterclockwise. A GMC Sierra traveled westbound in front of the Nissan. The Nissan’s front end crashed into the passenger side doors of the GMC. The Nissan continued yawing counterclockwise and landed on its top and hood. It slid westbound to its final uncontrolled rest position. Mittelstedt did not wear a seat belt. He was partially ejected out the rear driver’s side window and sustained severe injuries. He was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital and pronounced deceased. This crash remains under investigation by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Enforcement Division.
