Hagerstown, MD : Police officer charged with DUI after 2-vehicle crash on U.S. 40 near Clear Spring Saturday afternoon, March 7, 2015

A senior Hagerstown police officer was charged with driving under the influence after the vehicle he was operating on U.S. 40 near Clear Spring Saturday afternoon went into the opposite lane of travel and struck another vehicle, according to Maryland State Police.
Terry Hose, who has been with the Hagerstown Police Department for more than 15 years, was not transported to a hospital, state police 1st Sgt. Kurt Dominick said.
Hose, who is from the Clear Spring area, was taken to the Hagerstown state police barrack after the crash and released, Dominick said.
Hagerstown police spokeswoman Officer Heather Aleshire said Monday afternoon that the department had been notified of the accident.
Aleshire said the charge against Hose is a personnel matter, and there would be no further comment from the department.
Hose was driving east on U.S. 40 near Ashton Road when he approached a vehicle being driven in the opposite direction by Danielle Hill of Clear Spring, Dominick said.
Hill was attempting to turn left into a driveway when Hose left his lane of travel and struck her vehicle, Dominick said.
The crash was reported at about 2:22 p.m., he said.
Dominick said he did not know what led authorities at the scene to charge Hose with drunken driving.
Hill was not hurt, Dominick said.
The intersection is about a mile east of Clear Spring.
