A motorcyclist has died after succumbing to injuries sustained during a traffic accident Sunday afternoon in Livonia.
Livonia police say the motorcyclist, 64-year-old Kord Allison Kostich of Livonia, was riding his 2015 Polaris Slingshot at about 3:40 p.m. Sunday northbound on Farmington near Rayburn between Five Mile and Six Mile when he lost control. He then crossed into the southbound lanes of traffic on Farmington Road and was struck by a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze.
The motorcyclist was transported to an area hospital after the accident where he was later pronounced dead.
The driver of the Cruze, a 54-year-old Livonia man, sustained minor injuries.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the incident. Sgt. Brian Leigh of the Livonia Police Department said Kostich was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident. Police did not release any other details Monday morning and say the investigation is ongoing.
Farmington Road was closed for several hours Sunday while police investigated the incident.
