Rutland, MA : 1 killed in crash involving police cruisers from two Massachusetts towns on Friday, 9th August 2019
One person was killed in a Friday evening crash involving officers from multiple Massachusetts police departments.
The crash occurred around 6:30 p.m. on Friday on Route 122 in Rutland.
A Rutland Police K-9 SUV, a Paxton vehicle and a non-police vehicle were involved in the crash. The crash left the K-9 vehicle mangled, the non-police vehicle off the road in a wooded area and the Paxton vehicle with a broken windshield, aerial video from NBC10 Boston shows.The driver of the non-police vehicle involved in the crash was pronounced dead at the scene. Their name is being withheld pending next of kin notification.
Rutland Police Officer Matthew Fenuccio and Paxton Police Officer Edward Santiago were transported to UMass Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries Friday, Rutland Police Chief Nicholas Monaco said. The K-9 in the vehicle at the time of the crash was transported for veterinary care and found to be uninjured.
