New York, NY : Car-carrier truck crashes, leaving some of its cargo overturned on New York City highway on Tuesday, December 30, 2014

Police say a tractor-trailer truck has jackknifed on a highway in New York City, and some of the cars it was carrying have toppled off and overturned.

The Fire Department says one person has been taken to a hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The wreck happened around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday on the Long Island Expressway between Main Street and Kissena Boulevard in Queens.

Police say it no other vehicles were involved, except the tractor-trailer and the cars on it.

The highway's eastbound lanes were closed for about two and a half hours but have since reopened. Westbound traffic was backed up.
