An earlier crash on Interstate 17 near Black Canyon City has resulted in what the Arizona Department of Transportation is calling a "very heavy backup" for about 12 miles.
"Drivers are advised to either postpone travel or be prepared to wait," ADOT said in a press release issued around 7:40 p.m. The backup is from milepost 244 to 232, and came after a crash at milepost 231.
The advisory follows a day of crashes and backups on I-17.
A crash on south Interstate 17 late Sunday afternoon caused heavy backups near Camp Verde.
That crash occurred around 4 p.m. at milepost 283 and temporarily blocked the left southbound lane of I-17, according to ADOT. It was cleared around 6:30 p.m.. One person was treated for a minor injury after one vehicle rear-ended another, according to ADOT.
