Quincy, IL : Quincy driver injured in crash on I-72 in Pike County on Wednesday October 5 2016

A Quincy man was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 5:52 a.m. Wednesday on Interstate 72 near the milepost 1 marker in Pike County.

The Illinois State Police said Karl E. Sutton, 34, was driving a 2004 Jeep east on I-72 when the vehicle struck a concrete median barrier on the left side of the road, overcorrected and ran off the right side of the road. The vehicle entered the grassy median and overturned several times before coming to rest on the exit ramp at milepost 1.

Sutton was removed from the vehicle and taken by ambulance to Hannibal (Mo.) Regional Hospital with moderate injuries. He was later transferred to Blessing Hospital in Quincy.

Police say Sutton was cited on charges of driving under the influence, driving while license revoked and improper lane use.

Assisting at the crash scene were the Hannibal Police Department, Pike County EMS and Hull/Kinderhook Fire and EMS.
