THOMASTON, GA : Serious crash closes Route 8SB in Thomaston on Saturday, 3rd November 2018
One person has died from injuries suffered in a serious one-car motor vehicle accident that closed Route 8 southbound Saturday morning.
Cassandra Bigos, 28, of Bethany, succumbed to her injuries at Waterbury Hospital after her vehicle struck a tree and caught on fire near exit 40 at 8:02 a.m.
According to the police report, Bigos was driving her black 1996 Oldsmobile Cutlass when her vehicle veered off the road from the left shoulder, going through the metal post of the wire rope guardrail. The vehicle then traveled into an embankment before striking a tree and catching on fire.
State Police said no other vehicles were involved.
The highway was closed southbound from exits 41 to 40 and reopened just after 2 p.m.
