Wilmington, DE : Three injured in collision between carjacked vehicle, transit bus on Wednesday, July 9, 2014
Wilmington police are investigating a collision between a stolen vehicle and a Delaware Transit Corporation bus that left both drivers and a bus passenger injured.
Police say a 21-year-old convicted felon and probationer who was driving the carjacked SUV early Wednesday is hospitalized in stable condition and will face charges.
Authorities say the collision occurred shortly before 6 a.m. Wednesday, at the intersection of W. 35th and Washington streets.
Officers had received a report shortly after midnight that the vehicle had been stolen at gunpoint after its owner left the keys in the ignition while using a bank ATM. Officers spotted the vehicle being driven erratically near W. 33rd and Market streets shortly before the crash.
The 44-year-old bus driver and his lone passenger, a 41-year-old woman, sustained minor injuries.
