SOUTH BEND, IN : 2 seriously injured in Sunday night crash on Lincoln Way East on Sunday, 9th April 2023

Two people were taken to the hospital with serious injuries after a single-vehicle crash on Sunday night in South Bend.

Officers were called around 8:35 p.m. to the 1900 block of Lincoln Way East near Ironwood Drive. According to their investigation, a 35-year-old Elkhart man was driving a Chevrolet Monte Carlo east on Lincoln Way East when the vehicle hit the curb and crashed into a retaining wall.

The driver was seriously injured and was taken to the hospital, where he is in stable condition. His passenger, a 32-year-old Elkhart man, was taken to the hospital for life-threatening injuries.

Officials say toxicology reports are pending. The crash remains under investigation by the St. Joseph County Fatal Crash Team (FACT).
