Montrose, CO : One person is dead in a crash on May, Friday 5th 2017
One person is dead in a crash involving at least two vehicles on south U.S. 550, the Colorado State Patrol confirmed Friday.
The Montrose County Sheriff’s Office called the Colorado State Patrol to the scene at mile post 125.5, near an antique store along the highway, at 2:39 p.m. The road was closed, with traffic diverted onto the nearby frontage road, CSP Sgt. Rob Madden, a Denver-based agency spokesman, said.
The coroner also was called to the scene. Madden said a 32 year-old man driving one of the vehicles was killed. His identity has not been released.
A second driver, identified as a 64-year-old man, was not injured, according to information available to Madden.
That information also indicated a 56-year-old registered owner for the vehicle the fatally injured man was driving; it was not clear whether the registered owner was in the vehicle.
The circumstances of the crash are pending investigation, which still was talking place Friday.
