ROGERS, TX : A pickup truck with five people in it rolled on Tuesday, June 20, 2017

A pickup truck with five people in it rolled at least once Tuesday morning near the intersection of Wedel Cemetery Road and Pritchard Road, ejecting one passenger.

One person was transported by ambulance to Scott & White Medical Center-Temple. The extent of that person’s injuries wasn’t known by press time Tuesday.

The mangled black pickup sat in the ditch surrounded by tall weeds, which was where it landed after the driver apparently lost control on the gravel road. Tracks in the dirt road indicated the truck may have fishtailed before it rolled and flipped back onto its tires.

The people in the truck were dressed in swimwear like they were going somewhere to get relief from Tuesday’s intense heat.

Responding to the accident were firefighters with the Rogers and Little River-Academy volunteer fire departments.

The Texas Department of Public Safety was investigating the accident’s cause.
