CHELMSFORD, MA : Car crashes into Chelmsford jewelry store on Thursday, 28th June 2018
Chelmsford, Massachusetts
A car crashed into the front of Charles Frederick Jewelers on Thursday afternoon, damaging the building.
Fire Chief Gary Ryan said a 61-year-old woman from Tyngsboro crashed the small red sedan into the front of the 18 Alpine Lane store about 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
"The car went well into the building but thankfully no one was injured," Ryan said.
Deputy Police Chief Dan Ahern said the woman told police she was pulling the Toyota into a parking spot and "mistook the gas pedal for the brake pedal, causing the vehicle to lurch forward into the building."
Ryan said three employees and two customers were in the store at the time. There were no passengers in the vehicle, he said.
