Opelika, AL : Waverly woman dies in vehicle accident on Christmas Day on Sunday, December 25th 2016

A 52-year-old Waverly woman died in a vehicle accident on Sunday.

Susan Debra Hammock was killed instantly when she collided with a pickup trick at the intersection of U.S. Highway 280 West and Alabama Highway 147, according to Lee County Coroner Bill Harris.

Hammock was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:33 p.m. She was traveling with her three-year-old grandson, who was in a car seat in the rear seat. He was not injured but was transported to the emergency room for precautionary examination.

The Alabama State Troopers are investigating the accident.
