A Houston County Sheriff’s Deputy suffered minor injuries after a wreck around 3 p.m. Saturday that caused another vehicle to run into a support column of Region’s Bank in downtown.

“God was with them,” said HCSO Sheriff Kevin Sugg. “The deputy got three staples in his head and returned to work (Tuesday).”

Marcus Daniel, 40, of Clarksville was driving a 2009 Pontiac G6 was crossing Main Street from the east side of Spring Street, headed west with three children, aged 12, 10 and 2 in the vehicle, according to a report by the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

Deputy Adam Curtis was driving an HCSO patrol vehicle south on Main Street while running emergency lights and sirens, headed to a call, going through a red light.

Daniel’s vehicle crossed in front of the patrol car, and the deputy ran into the right side of the vehicle. The deputy’s patrol car rotated in the middle of the street and eventually stopped facing West on Spring Street.

The Pontiac crossed the grass in front of Region’s Bank and hit the front of the bank, stopping on one of the support columns.

Daniel was charged with driving on revoked license.

No one else was hurt in the crash.
