Midland, MI : 10 people hurt in Saturday crash at M-20 and Meridian on Saturday, 5th November 2016
Ten people - three drivers and seven passengers - were hurt in a crash that blocked traffic at M-20 and Meridian Road for an hour Saturday afternoon.
The crash occurred at 4:30 p.m. when a van headed east on M-20 attempted to turn north onto Meridian. The driver, Ashley Marie Melrose, 23, of Prescott, told deputies she did not see an oncoming westbound car, the Midland County Sheriff’s Office reports.
The van and the car collided, and then the van was struck by a second westbound car.
All three drivers — Melrose, Dustin Ray Bowen, 24, of Sears, and John Edward Elenbaas, 56, of Stanwood — suffered non-life threatening injuries, along with passengers in each vehicle.
In Melrose’s 2008 Chrysler van were Alaura Dannan Ballard, 22, and Raven Lee Metro, 1, both of Prescott; and Lisa Dawn Loper, 44, Patrick Lou Loper, 48, and Alisa Marie Loper, 19, all of Gladwin.
Herbert Benjamin Brower, 24, of Sears, was riding in Bowen’s 2006 Pontiac G6, and Julie Kay Elenbaas, 59, of Stanwood, was riding in John Elenbaas’ 2013 Volkswagen Passat.
All 10 were taken to the MidMichigan Medical Center-Midland for treatment by paramedics.
Melrose was cited for failing to yield the right of way.
