Three Killed In Separate Car Accidents in San Diego California

The storm battering San Diego County caused more than 50 traffic accidents Wednesday morning, including a fatal crash, the California Highway Patrol reported.

Between midnight and 6 a.m., there were 52 accidents in the county, according to the CHP, compared to a total of between 50 and 75 crashes on a dry-weather day.

A delivery truck driven by Evaristo Rodriguez, 46, overturned just south of Bernardo Center Drive, CHP Officer Mark Gregg. As Rodriguez got out of the truck, he was struck by a Ford F-150 pickup truck about 4:20 a.m., Gregg said. He died at the scene.

The California Highway Patrol recorded 249 accidents Tuesday in San Diego County, 10News reported.

Motorist Mark Klar, 54, of Ramona, died when the Ford Explorer he was driving veered off Old Highway 395 and into a creek near Mission Road in Fallbrook around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, CHP officials said.

A little more than 30 minutes later, a commercial trucker suffered fatal injuries when he got into a collision on northbound Interstate 15 at state Route 76 in the Pala Mesa Village area, CHP officials said. Motorist Edward L. Hickman, 47, of San Diego, died at the scene.
