15-year-old girl killed in one-car crash near Chiloquin
Yasmin Esmeralda Rivera, 15, of Prosser, Wash., was killed Saturday morning in a one-car crash near Chiloquin that injured six others, according to Oregon State Police.
Ruth Palomares, 18, a two-month-old girl and a one-year-old boy, all of Yakima, Wash., were taken to Sky Lakes Medical Center in Klamath Falls with minor injuries, according to police.
Olga Rivera-Chavez, 44, Aimme Maldonado, 30, and a three-year-old boy, all of Sunnyside, Wash., were treated at the scene for minor injuries.Police say Rivera-Chavez was driving a Jeep Cherokee southbound on U.S. 97 around 5:45 a.m. Saturday when the vehicle drifted off the road. After returning to the highway, the car rolled several times and ejected Rivera, who was in the passenger seat.
Rivera was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene, according to police. Everyone else in the car was using seatbelts or child safety seats.
Oregon State Police is investigating. Fatigue is thought to be a factor in the crash.
