Charlotte, NC : Man changing tire struck, killed on I-77 ramp to LaSalle Street on Saturday, October 4, 2014

According to police, a man was struck and killed on the Interstate 77 northbound ramp onto LaSalle Street. The highway patrol said a man was changing his tire on the side of the road when he was fatally struck by a vehicle. Witnesses told officials he was driving an SUV with a trailer. One of the trailer tires got a flat, and the man pulled over to change it. Witnesses also said the man was over the white line. A couple of drivers said they swerved and missed him. The 40-year-old Charlotte man was struck and killed. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The highway patrol is still investigating the incident. Charlotte-Mecklenburg police assisted with traffic.
