Augusta, GA : ATV accident kills Wilkes child on April, Sunday 16th 2017
The Georgia State Patrol is investigating an ATV accident that killed a Briarwood Academy sixth-grader Easter Sunday afternoon.
According to GSP Trooper 1st Class Neil Frankel, Wilkes County sheriff’s deputies and state troopers were called to 448 Grant Drive in Washington. Frankel said two youngsters were riding ATVs in circles around their home. One of the boys, identified as Ashton Andrews, 11, wrecked and was thrown from the vehicle, which then rolled over him, causing a fatal head injury. He was not wearing a helmet.
A grandmother began CPR at the scene and the child was taken to Wills Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Briarwood Academy officials were bringing in special counselors today.
