CUSHING, IA : Woman dead after crash on Highway 20 on February, Sunday 18th 2018
A 22-year-old Odebolt, Iowa, woman is dead after her car was struck by a semi Sunday evening while crossing Highway 20, authorities said.
The Iowa State Patrol reports Destiney Rain Gritten died as a result of the crash, which took place about 2 miles northeast of Cushing.
According to the report, around 5:30 p.m. Gritten was driving a 2004 Chevrolet passenger car south on Alpine Avenue and failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection with Highway 20. When her vehicle entered the intersection, it was struck by an eastbound 2017 Freightliner truck tractor. Both vehicles came to rest east of the intersection.
Gritten was transported by Mercy Air Care to a hospital in Sioux City. She was pronounced deceased.
Truck driver Daniel Anderson, 40, of Firth, Idaho, was uninjured, according to the report.
Assisting at the scene were the Iowa Department of Transportation and Ida County Sheriff's Office.
