Menomonie, WI : A head-on crash in Dunn County on February, Monday 12th 2018
A head-on crash in Dunn County has left a 54-year-old Boyceville woman dead.
Reports of a two-vehicle collision on State Highway 79 came in at 12:42 p.m. on Monday. According to a release from the Dunn County Sheriff's Office, the crash took place about three miles south of Boyceville in the town of Sherman. Callers told the E-911 center that there were injuries and the road was blocked.
When deputies, Boyceville police, fire and ambulance along with Menomonie Fire/EMS responded, they found that the driver of a southbound Chevy SUV had mortally injured and was pronounced dead by the Dunn County Medical Examiner’s Office.
A passenger in the vehicle, the woman's 19-year-old daughter received non-life threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System-Red Cedar in Menomonie.
The lone 47-year-old man driving a northbound Kia SUV also sustained injuries and was taken to Mayo Clinic Health System-Eau Claire.
Initial investigation seems to show that that Kia crossed the center line and hit the Chevy SUV that was southbound in its lane. Alcohol use by the driver of the Kia is suspected to be a factor in the collision.
