TUCSON, AZ : Unlicensed driver involved in fatal Tucson crash on Tuesday, 30th January 2024

A fatal collision occurred on Tuesday, Jan. 30, at East 22nd Street and South Park Avenue involving a white 2014 Dodge Charger and an adult-female pedestrian.

The Tucson Police Department says officers and Tucson Fire Department personnel responded to the scene of the crash just after 6:30 a.m.

The pedestrian, 46-year-old Sarah Marie Chavez, was pronounced dead.

TPD says that Chavez was crossing East 22nd Street from south to north in a marked crosswalk. However, she crossed against the signal, while east and westbound traffic had a green light.

The Dodge Charger, traveling westbound on East 22nd Street over the posted speed limit, hit Chavez.
