Chicago, IL : Driver, passenger killed in crash on bridge in Lockport on Monday, 19th March 2018

Two people were killed in a crash Monday afternoon in southwest suburban Lockport.

The crash happened about 1:25 p.m. on the Ninth Street Bridge, located east of Route 53 and Renwick Road, according to Illinois State Police.

A Chevrolet Suburban SUV was traveling east when it crossed into the westbound lanes on the bridge and collided with a Ford F-150 pickup truck, state police said. The driver and passenger of the SUV were killed in the head-on crash. Their identifies were not released pending notification of family.

The driver of the pickup was treated for minor injuries, police said.

All lanes on the bridge were closed for several hours while authorities investigated the crash, but were back open by 4 p.m.
