Union County ,OH : Columbus firefighter killed in Union County crash on Monday night ,July 27th 2015

A driver is in critical condition following a pair of crashes in the Cane Ridge area.

Just after midnight, police responded to a wreck near the corner of Bell and Cane Ridge roads.

The driver did not stop, and minutes later, a van crashed through a fence down the street. The vehicle went down an embankment and hit a tree.

Officers said the same van was involved in both wrecks.

The driver told police at the hospital that he had been taking pills and trying to kill himself.

This wreck happened along the same stretch of road where a man crashed on Monday morning. He told police he got distracted by a box of kittens in his passenger's seat, lost control and hit a power pole, knocking out power to the neighborhood for hours.
