Nashville, IN : Two severely injured in motorcycle-van crash at state roads 46 East and 135 South on Sunday, July 10, 2016
Two people were severely injured Sunday afternoon in a collision at state roads 46 East and 135 South.
Emergency personnel responded to the intersection at about noon for a crash involving a motorcycle and a Dodge minivan.
Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Brian Shrader reported that James Miller, 59, Indianapolis, was westbound on 46 East. He told police he hadn’t seen anyone coming when he went to turn left onto 135 South.
That’s when he collided with a 2009 Suzuki motorcycle driven by Thomas J. Waggoner, 44, Gwynneville.
Waggoner was eastbound on 46 when Miller turned directly in front of him, the report said.
Based on Waggoner’s injuries, Shrader believed Waggoner went into the window of the van.
Shrader was unable to speak with Waggoner and his passenger — who was not identified in the report — because they both were receiving “substantial treatment” by ambulance personnel.
Neither was wearing helmets, the report said.
Waggoner had severe bleeding on his face. He and his passenger were taken by ambulance to Columbus Regional Hospital.
Miller reported having pain in his neck, but an ambulance did not transport him, the report said.
