MANSFIELD, PA : 3 hurt, at least 1 seriously, in Turnpike crash on Sunday, 18th September 2016
The driver of a vehicle involved in a crash on the Turnpike was taken by helicopter to a hospital Sunday afternoon, Sgt. Jeff Flynn of the New Jersey State Police said.
The accident, involving a car and a Chevy Blazer, occurred on the southbound side shortly before 1 p.m. near Exit 6 and the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
The driver of one vehicle was flown to Helene Fuld Trauma Center in Trenton. Two other people were taken to Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mt. Holly.
Traffic in the area was being diverted to the express lanes as police investigate the accident, Flynn said. Traffic was backed up more than 2 miles in the area, the state Department of Transportation said around 2 p.m.
