West Lafayette, IN : A vehicle struck a female pedestrian on Saturday, July 22, 2017

A vehicle struck a female pedestrian while the pedestrian was crossing the 1900 block of Elmwood Avenue about 9:30 p.m. Saturday, police say.

According to a press release from Lafayette police, the unnamed victim was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. A portion of Elmwood Avenue was closed for about two hours during the investigation but has since reopened.

The release did not provide details about the driver of the vehicle or how the accident happened.
