Los Angeles County, CA : Palmdale teen dies in car crash on Bouquet Canyon Road on Saturday afternoon, Aug 22, 2015
A 16-year-old Palmdale boy was killed in a single vehicle crash on Bouquet Canyon Road Saturday afternoon, after the car left the roadway and hit a tree, a spokesman for the California Highway Patrol said.
The boy was identified Sunday morning as Christopher James Rodriguez, Investigator Betsy Magdaleno of the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Department told The Signal Sunday.
Rodriguez was a passenger in the front seat of a 1990 Mazda Miata driven by Nicholas Rodriguez, 22, also of Palmdale, according to a CHP report released by Acting Sgt. Chris Cabral of the Newhall Station.
The older victim was rushed to Antelope Valley Hospital with major injuries, he wrote.
It was not immediately known if the two victims were related.
The younger of the two died of injuries suffered in a crash shortly after 4:45 p.m. Saturday on Bouquet Canyon Road, about two miles south of Spunky Canyon Road, Cabral wrote.
“For an unknown reason, Rodriguez lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle spun in a rotational manner and the right side of the Miata struck a tree bordering the roadway.
“As a result of the collision, the right front passenger sustained fatal injuries while on scene. Los Angeles County Fire Department pronounced the passenger deceased at approximately 5:25 p.m.,” Cabral wrote.
The southbound lane of Bouquet Canyon Road was closed for about four hours. Intermittent traffic control was implemented by diverting traffic into the northbound lane.
Alcohol or drug use are not suspected. The investigation regarding the collision is on going, however speed is a factor for the collision.
