Marco Island, FL : Bicyclist seriously injured in East Naples crash on Wednesday afternoon, March 15, 2017

A bicyclist suffered serious injuries following a crash in East Naples Wednesday afternoon.

Kevin F. Tower, 54, of Collier County, was taken to NCH Baker Hospital Downtown to be treated.

The driver of a 2015 Land Rover exiting a business at the 2400th block of Tamiami Trail East struck Tower on his left side as he rode a bike east on the north sidewalk along the highway around 1:53 p.m., according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The driver, Cesar de Leon, 47, faces a charge of failing to yield from a driveway or sidewalk, according to an FHP report.

Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, according to the report.
