A Tallula man was injured after his car went off Illinois 97 west of Springfield and rolled over several times Saturday night.
The 22-year-old man's name was not immediately released in an Illinois State Police news release issued Sunday morning.
State police said the Tallula man was driving alone in a car westbound on Illinois 97, just east of Bradfordton Road, at 10:37 p.m. Witnesses said he was driving erratically. A 23-year-old man from Beardstown was driving east on Illinois 97 and had to take evasive action to avoid a collision with the westbound car, which had crossed the center line.
The Beardstown man's vehicle struck a guardrail. The Tallula man's car went off the road and into a field, police said. It rolled several times and hit a utility pole, knocking down power lines.
The Beardstown man and his two passengers were not injured. The Tallula man was taken to a Springfield hospital in an ambulance. Illinois 97 was closed for about three hours after the crash.
Charges are pending, police said.
