TAMPA, FL : Tampa Police investigating traffic accident that left one dead on Friday, 27th December, 2019

A motorcyclist died early Friday morning after crashing into a semitractor-trailer truck, according to police.

About 3:25 a.m., the man, 38, was riding a Suzuki motorcycle south on N 50th Street, the Tampa Police Department reported.

As he approached the intersection with the Lee Roy Selmon Expressway, a Freightliner truck was traveling north and turning left onto the expressway.

According to police, the motorcyclist “was unable to stop” and crashed into the semitractor-trailer. He was thrown from his motorcycle.Paramedics responded to the crash, but the man died at the scene, police said.

Police closed the intersection for four hours Friday morning.

No charges had been filed, according to police.
