Mccracken County, KY : KY man airlifted to hospital after motorcycle crash on Husbands Road Wednesday, June 8, 2016
McCracken County Deputy Sheriff Mark Roberts said he was on his way home at the end of his shift on Wednesday, June 8 at approximately 5:20 p.m. when he observed a collision that had just occurred involving a small SUV and a motorcycle.
Deputy Roberts, who was in his personal vehicle, contacted Central Dispatch to report the collision.
Deputy Roberts then began to render medical attention to the downed motorcyclist.
Upon other deputies arriving on the scene, a preliminary investigation revealed that James Ezell, 52, of Boaz, Kentucky, was driving northbound on Husbands Road. At the intersection with Old Husbands Road, Ezell made a left turn into the path of a 2016 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Michael Phillips, 22, of Mayfield.
Phillips was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
Phillips was airlifted by Air Evac to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee for serious injuries.
Husbands Road was closed for about 30 minutes for the investigation, facilitating the helicopter landing and clean up.
The sheriff’s department was assisted on the scene by Mercy Regional, Reidland/Farley Fire Rescue, Meadows Towing and Air Evac Air Ambulance Service.
