Hampton, N.H : Hampton police officer thrown from motorcycle in crash on Thursday morning, June 23, 2016

A Hampton police officer was injured in a crash on Thursday morning, according to New Hampshire State Police.

State police said they received a request for assistance from Hampton police just before 10 a.m.

Police said Officer Paul Morais was responding to a report of a domestic disturbance on Hampton Beach.

Morais was southbound in the breakdown lane of Route 1-A approaching C Street when a northbound vehicle, driven by Louis Picciuto, 57, of Stoneham, Massachusetts, was making a left-hand turn onto C street.

Morais' motorcycle collided with the passenger side rear door of Picciuto's car.

Morais was thrown from the motorcycle, and he sustained minor injuries.

He was taken to Portsmouth Hospital by the Hampton Fire Department, where he was treated and released.

Picciuto was not injured in the crash.

The crash is under investigation by the New Hampshire State Police.
