COVENTRY TOWNSHIP, OH : Man killed in ATV, snowmobile crash on frozen lake near Akron on Sunday, 21st February 2021

A man died Sunday and another was hospitalized with serious injuries after a crash between an ATV and a snowmobile on a frozen lake in the Portage Lakes area, according to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.

The 20-year-old victim’s name has not been released, pending family notifications.

The crash occurred around 2:20 a.m. Sunday on West Reservoir on the 500 block of Portage Lakes Drive in Coventry Township, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

The 20-year-old man from Green was driving a 2006 Yamaha YFS200 and a 33-year-old Coventry Township man was driving a 2005 Arctic Cat, deputies said. Investigators have not determined how the crash happened, but the vehicles struck and both men were injured.
