Kirbyville, TX : 79-year-old woman killed in a single-car accident on U.S. 96 in Kirbyville on Tuesday, January 6, 2015
A 79-year-old Kirbyville woman was killed in a Tuesday accident when the car she was a passenger in struck a tree.
Annie Adams was riding in a 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis driven by her husband, according to Trooper Stephanie Davis with the Texas Department of Public Safety. Adams was pronounced dead at Jasper Memorial Hospital shortly after the 8:15 a.m. crash, said Davis.
The single-car accident happened on U.S. 96, four miles south of Kirbyville.
Davis said it is unclear why the 84-year-old driver's car left the roadway, crossed a ditch and struck a tree.
He was also taken to Jasper Memorial for treatment of minor injuries, according to Davis.
