KENNER, LA : Man crashes stolen car in chase, knocking out power to homes on Tuesday, 6th September 2016
Authorities say a driver carrying illegal drugs caused a power outage in a Kenner neighborhood after leading police on a chase and crashing into two telephone poles.
News outlets report that 25-year-old Donald J. Harris of Baton Rouge was arrested Tuesday night after being taken to a local hospital and treated for minor injuries he received in the crash.
Police say the chase began when officers spotted Harris in a car that had been reported stolen Sunday. Harris lost control of the vehicle during the chase, causing him to crash into the telephone poles. About 600 Entergy customers were without power for more than four hours.
Harris faces multiple charges including illegal possession of a stolen vehicle and aggravated flight from an officer. It’s unclear whether he has an attorney.
