Fond du Lac County, WI : Two dead in crash involving semi in Fond du Lac County on Wednesday, January 21, 2015
Two people are dead following a three-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon in eastern Fond du Lac County.
Killed in the crash were a 37-year-old Sheboygan Falls man and a 4-year-old boy, according to authorities.
Rescue personnel from Mount Calvary, St. Cloud, Eden and Fond du Lac were called to the crash site on Highway 23 just east of Seven Hills Road at 1:40 p.m. on Jan. 21.
Mount Calvary officials requested two ambulances from the city of Fond du Lac and both Flight for Life and Theda Star helicopters.
Fond du Lac Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Mark Strand said a sedan was traveling west on Highway 23 when it drifted across the centerline and clipped the bumper of an eastbound SUV driven by a 54-year-old Mount Calvary woman. The contact between the vehicles caused the sedan to spin out into the eastbound lane where it was struck head-on by a semi driven by a 58-year-old Cascade man.
The driver of the SUV and her 5-year-old male passenger and the semi driver were not injured in the crash," Strand said.
The 4-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene, while a Sheboygan Falls man was transported to the hospital by ambulance where he later died. The identities of the crash victims are being withheld pending notification of family members.
The Highway 23 was closed for several hours while the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office investigated the crash site.
The Wisconsin State Patrol also assisted at the scene.
