A three-car pileup on Highway 12 at Davenport Road

A three-car pileup on Highway 12 at Davenport Road near Glen Ellen on Saturday afternoon closed one lane of traffic for hours as crews cleared the roadway.

At about 2:15 p.m. the driver of a moving truck eastbound on Highway 12 fell asleep and drove into a tree and power pole, according to CHP Officer Stephen Aguilar. The driver of a van that was behind the moving truck then crossed into westbound traffic and sideswiped a compact car with two adults and a two-month-old baby inside, he said.

No injuries were reported.

“Everybody was lucky,” Aguilar said.

Both lanes were opened at 4:30 p.m.

Power in the surrounding area was affected, including a number of traffic lights, according to the CHP. The traffic light at Highway 12 and Boyes Boulevard was completely out Saturday evening.
