Tampa, FL : Road worker killed by reversing dump truck on the Veterans Expressway on Wednesday, Sep 9, 2015

A Tampa road worker is dead after authorities say a dump truck backed into him.

The Florida Highway Patrol reports that 26-year-old Kimbrough W. Haines III was working in a construction zone on the Veterans Expressway late Wednesday when the truck him.

FHP says the dump truck was involved in pavement work in the northbound lanes north of the Hillsborough Avenue overpass.

Troopers say charges are pending.
