North Las Vegas, NV : 29-year-old Johnny James Kelly died when struck another motorcycle and hit a retaining wall on I-15 near Cheyenne Avenue on Saturday afternoon, March 28, 2015

Nevada Highway Patrol said northbound lanes on I-15 were closed Saturday for hours due to a fatal motorcycle crash.

NHP said two motorcycles traveling at a high rate of speed clipped one another and killed Johnny Kelly, 29, of North Las Vegas.

NHP said he lost control and hit the barrier wall on the right side. He was tossed from his vehicle and hit the wall again and was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash happened around 2:40 p.m. and was between Cary Avenue and Cheyenne Avenue. The crash had traffic at a stand still and NHP is advising drivers to take alternate routes.

NHP diverted northbound traffic off of I-15 at Lake Mead Boulevard to surface streets north to Cheyenne where drivers could get back on the highway.

This was a single vehicle crash and no one else was believed to be hurt.
