Montgomery, AL : Woman injured when car crashes through Auburn courthouse on Thursday, February 9th 2017
An Auburn woman suffered non-life threatening injuries after being struck by a car that crashed through the front entrance of the Lee County Courthouse Auburn Satellite Office on Thursday morning.
Auburn police Capt. Lorenza Dorsey said the 66-year-old victim was conducting business inside the courthouse when she was struck and her lower extremities pinned under the car.
She is being treated at East Alabama Medical Center, he said.
The crash occurred at around 11:28 a.m. at the courthouse located on Mall Parkway in Auburn.
Dorsey said a 48-year-old woman drove a 2015 Kia Forte through the glass front entrance of the satellite office. The car crashed through a pillar and glass interior wall before stopping, he said.
The driver wasn't injured.
"The case is being investigated by Auburn police to determine the cause" of the crash, Dorsey said. "There is nothing to conclude that is was intentional."
It's unclear at this time if the crash occurred due to driver error or a mechanical issue, he said.
