Holland, MI : 40-year-old woman and 1-year-old baby injured in four-vehicle wreck on U.S. 31 in Ottawa County on Thursday afternoon, March 10, 2016

A Holland Township pile-up involving four vehicles injured a woman and a baby Thursday afternoon.

The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office says the crash happened around 2:22 p.m. on northbound U.S. 31 between Riley and Felch streets.

Investigators said traffic had been stopped on northbound US-31 there, but one driver, a 29-year-old Muskegon woman, did not stop and rear-ended a vehicle driven by a 49-year-old Fennville man. That man saw he was going to be hit and tried veering to the left to avoid the crash, but he was still hit and his vehicle went into the median and rolled.

The first vehicle then rear-ended the next vehicle in line, which was driven by a 36-year-old New Orleans, Louisiana, woman. She had two passengers, a 40-year-old Chicago woman and a 1-year-old Chicago girl, who were both hurt. Their vehicle also then rear-ended a vehicle driven by a 25-year-old Holland woman.

The woman and baby from Chicago were taken by ambulance to Holland Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No one else was hurt, according to the Sheriff's Office.
